Feed Tray
Galvanized steel for durability and strength. Will not warp. |
|
Sprocket & Chain
Having a chain as the drive mechanism provides a constant positive non-slipping action while carding. The chain is never lubricated, will last forever and is far superior to belt drives. |

|
Large Drum
The hi-tech thick fiber core and MDF ends make our drum assembly stable, strong and light weight. Obsolete solid wood drums were prone to warping, splitting AND they were heavy. |
|
Locking Flange
Solid aluminum flange locks shaft onto drum to prevent slippage. |
|
Bearing Blocks
Obvious advantages of the modern solid aluminum bearing blocks. Aluminum won't warp, slip or crack like the older and obsolete wood and plastic ones. The oil impregnated bushings never need additional lubrication. |
|
Crank
The solid aluminum crank is strong and threads onto the large drum shaft. The smooth, large plastic handle on the end of the crank turns freely and to prevent blisters on your hand during carding. |

The Frame
All frames for chain drive carders are solid 1-inch thick ash. Each frame is 24" long and sealed with Tung Oil. Standard carders use a 11-1/2" wide frame while the double wide is 18-1/2". Bumper feet are mounted to prevent carder slippage and each frame has two pre-tapped holes to accept table clamps. Clamps are included with the "Finest". The "Finest" series has built in end frame hand cutouts for easy transporting of the carder. An important feature: Since the "Finest" series is 6" tall and the swing of the handle clears the table surface, the carder can be placed anywhere on the work surface. The standard 200 series carder uses a 4" high frame. Therefore, the carder must be placed at the table's edge since the swing of the crank will not clear the work surface. |
